In Machine Embroidery 12wt is recommended for patterns characterized by a certain stitch length and for embossed embroidery.

In House Linen manufacturing this thread weight is particularly suited for High Speed Industrial Scalloping machines. It is the ideal solution for coverage in decorative edge stitching for table and bed linen or for garments.

It's also great for hand embroidery offering wonderful definition and complete stitching ease.

Our 12wt has been tried and tested by some of our favorite makers and it adds fabulous definition to hand-stitched embellishment.

Aurifil Cotton 12wt threads are OekoTex certified and Reach Compliant and are available in 270 colors and in 3 sizes: Small, Medium and Large

12wt is re-wound on a red plastic thread holder, the clever solution by Aurifil to differentiate the cotton thread weights by different colors of the cones simplifies the management and the work to everyone.

Use a larger needle! This is a thick thread and it needs a little more room in the needle, the recommended needle for this thread weight is 100/110. Use 40wt or even 28wt in the bobbin on your machine.
