Aurifil are purveyors of 100% Egyptian cotton threads, grown in the Mako' region of Egypt and manufactured in Milano, Italy. Mako cotton is a production of from Upper Egypt with a extra long staple cotton length between 30 mm and 34 mm.

Aurifil Cotton threads are gazed and mercerised.

 

       

 Aurifil offer a wide selection of weights from the thinest to the thickest : Ne 80/2 , Ne 50/2 , Ne 40/2, Ne 28/2 and Ne 80/2 thus making our cotton threads perfectly suited for every sewing and embroidery projects.

How can I easily identify Aurifil thread weights?
Each Aurifil thread is packaged on a colored spool coded according to thread weight:

The clever solution by Aurifil to differentiate the cotton thread weights by different colors of the cones simplifies the management and the work to everyone. 12wt is re-wound on a red plastic thread holder, 28wt on grey, 40wt on green, 50wt is orange and 80wt blue.

Because of the awesome way that Aurifil color codes the thread spools, it’s easy to find the exact weight needed and to keep the threads tidy on your workplace shelves.
