40 wt Cotton

Available in 270 colours, Makò Cotton 40wt is the most versatile count. Thanks to its intermediate thickness, it is particularly recommended for particularly fine processes.

This thread weight is usually combined with Aurifil 50wt cotton for scalloped stitching. It's popular for several usages, such as 301 standard stitch, on serger and Bourdon Coverage

Another possible use of the 40wt is on the chain stitch" machines to make the "bourdon". Within machine embroidery the 40wt is particularly suitable and, on average, it’s used for approximately 80% of a design.

The most suitable needle for this thread weight is of size 80.
